InternetArc is an independent publication covering the software, services and products people actually have to choose between — web hosting and site builders, SaaS and e-commerce platforms, VPN and privacy tools, and a long-running library of consumer product guides.

What we cover

We write for people at the moment of a decision: which host to move to, whether a VPN is worth its renewal price, which of four e-commerce platforms fits a small storefront, whether a product is worth its price. Our published work falls into four areas:

  • Web, hosting and site builders — hosting comparisons, WordPress page builders, and the trade-offs between managed and shared platforms.
  • SaaS, e-commerce and business tools — storefront platforms, email marketing, freelancer marketplaces, and the operational tools around them.
  • VPN, security and privacy — VPN and security-suite reviews, pricing analysis, and plain-language explainers on what these tools do and do not protect.
  • Consumer products and how-to guides — an established library covering home, automotive and everyday goods, which is where the site started and which we continue to maintain.

How we research

We want to be exact about this, because a lot of review sites are not. The majority of our coverage is research-led, not hands-on lab testing. We do not own a test lab, and we do not claim to have personally used every product we write about. What we do instead:

  1. Primary documentation. We read the vendor's own specifications, pricing pages, terms, warranty and support documentation — and we note when the marketing copy and the fine print disagree.
  2. Pricing over time. For subscription products we record the introductory price and the renewal price, because the gap between them is often the single most important fact for a reader.
  3. Verified user feedback at volume. We read across retailer reviews, support forums and community threads, weighting verified purchasers and looking for failure patterns that repeat rather than one-off complaints.
  4. Independent third-party results. Where credible independent testing exists — security audits, published benchmarks, regulatory filings — we cite it rather than reproducing it badly.
  5. Direct use, where we have it. Some tools in the software, hosting and VPN categories we use ourselves. Where that is the case we say so explicitly in the article, and we describe what we actually did.

Our full standards, including how we handle corrections and updates, are set out in our Editorial Policy.

How we make money

InternetArc is reader-supported through affiliate partnerships. When you buy or sign up through some of the links on this site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. That is the whole business model — we do not sell advertising placement in our rankings, and we do not accept payment for a favourable review.

Commission rates differ between merchants. We are aware that this creates an incentive, and we manage it deliberately: the people who decide what we recommend do not set commercial terms, and we publish products with no affiliate programme at all whenever they are the right answer. Full details, including every network we work with, are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Editorial independence

  • No paid placements. A merchant cannot buy a position, a score, or an inclusion.
  • Disclosure before the first link. Every article containing affiliate links carries a disclosure above the article body, not buried in the footer.
  • Sponsored content is labelled. If a piece is sponsored, it says so at the top, and it is never presented as an independent review.
  • We publish corrections. When we get something wrong, we fix it and note what changed.
